Information On How Our Discussions Should be Organized and What They Should Ccontain

Expectations for Literature Circles Each week:
Read, add to your notes, post at least 3 comments.
Read your assigned section.
Add to your character web.
Add to your vocabulary list, at least 4 new words each section, with the page, paragraph, word, and definition in your own words.
Visit the Host's blog to find out your digital discussion question.
Prepare your response to the discussion question, must be thoughtful, thorough, at least 200 words, edited carefully.
Post your response in the comment section of your Host's blog post.
Read the other postings and respond at least twice(to people's comments or questions they have asked you; you can agree or disagree, add more information or seek clarification, all must be respectful responses.


Every two weeks:
Check out the questions on your teachers blog.
Follow instructions from there, select questions, respond in carefully written, carefully edited page on your blog.


When you are the host:
On or before your assigned Friday, write a question post on your blog:
Welcoming your group members by name, and hyperlink to their blogs.
Giving information about your book tittle, the author and the section read.
Decide on a question you would like to ask and consult with your teacher about your phrasing, the detail and the content.
Post a thought-provoking question for your groups mates to consider and answer.
Put a comment on your own post answering your question.
Respond to each of the group members at least once
Two weeks later:
Write a summary post on your blog.
Read all the comments made by your group members, notice any interesting trends, over-arching themes and on-going questions.
Create a graphic organizer to summarize their thoughts
Write a paragraph on what your book is, what your question was, what the group members answered overall, your three pieces of support written in a concise way.
Support 1:
The most powerful piece of support to prove what your group members thought/you decided what their consensus was.
Support 2:
Another piece of support to prove your big idea.
Support 3:
Another very powerful piece of support.
Conclusion: Summarize what you want the readers to understand about the big idea, leave them with something to think about.
Carefully edit your paragraph for clarity, spelling, punctuation and grammar,
Post the paragraph to your blog, in a new post.
Link you all your group members in this post and thank them for their contributions.
